Software ownership FAQ
What coding AI can help with, what ownership involves and what happens in the free consultation.
What is this site offering?
Independent research and a free 30-minute conversation for business owners exploring whether coding AI and affordable hosting could help them own a focused business tool. The call is educational, not a paid build offer.
Can Claude Code build a whole business system by itself?
No. Claude Code and similar coding assistants can help a person write and change code. A person still has to describe the workflow, review the code, test the result and maintain it.
What does “own the software stack” mean?
Your business controls the source code repository and the key accounts the application uses, such as its domain, hosting and database. You also have a plan for access, backups, updates and support.
Is hosting really only a few dollars a month?
Some hosting services publish low starting prices, but hosting is only one cost. Include AI usage, database and storage, email and SMS, payments, backups, monitoring and maintenance time. The total depends on the workflow and usage.
Should I replace every SaaS product?
No. Keep a mature product when it handles support, compliance, integrations or reliability better than you could reasonably maintain. A small, bounded workflow is a more sensible place to explore an owned tool.
What happens in the free 30-minute call?
We choose one workflow or bill, map its important rules and dependencies, then discuss what a coding-AI-assisted tool and low-cost hosting might involve. We’ll include likely costs, risks and maintenance responsibilities. The outcome may be to keep the tool you already have.
What should I prepare?
Bring a rough monthly cost or a plain-language description of the work. No invoice, account access, customer records or technical brief is needed. Do not send passwords or sensitive personal information.
How do I request a time?
Send a consultation request with your email and the topic you want to cover. The form is hosted by Google Forms, where the form owner reviews responses to arrange the conversation. See the privacy page for details.
Are vendor comparisons hands-on product tests?
Most product details and prices are checked against linked vendor sources, with check dates shown on the guide or profile. A source check is not a hands-on test. Read the research method for the distinctions.
