Collision repair is a chain of estimates, approvals, parts, repair-plan changes, quality checks and customer handoffs. Compare systems by following one repair order from intake to delivery, including a supplement and a delayed part. A polished estimate screen alone does not show whether the shop can see what is holding up the vehicle.

What the software costs—and where your margin can improve.
Start with the bill and one costly workflow. The comparison is straightforward: recurring software costs you can actually remove, minus the hosting, AI, integrations and upkeep a replacement needs. Time saved is a separate gain, and only becomes margin when the business can use it.
Current software · researched prices
Auto body and collision repair software runs $99 to $1,250 a month across the 2 vendors that publish prices. 28 of 45 vendors have quote-only pricing in our research.
Published starting prices are not a like-for-like quote. Confirm the plans, seats, add-ons, payment fees and setup your workflow requires.
A focused tool · under your control
Pay for the parts this workflow needs.
One time: map the rules, build, test edge cases, move only the data needed and train the people who use it.
Each month: affordable hosting, coding-AI usage, any database or integrations, backups and maintenance. Price these for the actual application; a $0 or low hosting tier is not the total cost.
You control: the code repository, domain, data and service accounts. Someone on your side owns updates, access, recovery and support.
MarginVendor costs removed − the replacement’s full monthly operating cost.
Admin timeFirst target: Estimate and supplement. Create an estimate, add discovered damage as a supplement and record approval. Confirm authorized versus pending work stays distinct.
Business valueDurable, documented margin can strengthen a business; buyers still assess risk and whether someone else can run the workflow.
The exact replacement cost depends on scope and usage. Bring your invoice and one frustrating task; we’ll map what can stay, what could be owned and the costs to verify.

This synthetic repair order tests whether estimates, production status, parts and final billing remain connected.
Create a vehicle intake record with photos, customer contact preferences and an initial estimate. Mark insurer review and customer authorization separately.
Move the repair into teardown, add discovered damage as a supplement and leave the new work pending until approval is recorded.
Record a delayed part and a sublet calibration. Confirm the production schedule and promised completion date reflect both blockers.
Complete quality control, document customer delivery, reconcile deductible and insurer payment, and preserve the original and revised estimate history.
Plan a controlled data move
Import active repair orders, estimate and supplement versions, vehicle identifiers, photos, customer and insurer contacts, parts orders, work stages, open receivables and payment records. Reconcile each in-process vehicle against the physical shop floor before dispatching work from the new system.
Where a first build could stop
Estimating and shop-management tools do not replace qualified repair procedures, technician judgment or required calibrations and inspections. Confirm access to current OEM repair information, protect customer and vehicle data, and retain approvals and documentation required by your agreements.

Where the money goes
The estimating and management system is the anchor line, quoted after a demo at Mitchell, Audatex, ROME and Nexsyis. Around it, per-location tools stack up: Bodyshop Toolbox is $200 a month per shop, BodyShopOS is $129 to $199 by user count, and Claimory runs $49.99 to $349.99 per location. Marketing agencies such as Autoshop Solutions quote every package, and under the linked Vehlo terms the website is licensed to the shop only during the term.
What to keep
Keep your estimating system and OEM parts ordering. Estimates run on OEM collision databases (Web-Est uses Mitchell's), and RepairLink is free for shops anyway.
What to verify
Ask providers to demonstrate this workflow using your edge cases. Check which plan includes each step, what costs extra and how your records can be exported.

Is estimating software the same as shop-management software?
Not always. Check whether estimates, supplements, parts, production stages and invoices share records or rely on integrations that can fail or require duplicate entry.
What should a collision repair software demo include?
Bring an in-process repair with a supplement, a delayed part, an insurer approval and a final balance. Ask the vendor to show each change in both the repair workflow and customer-facing status.
How much does Web-Est cost?
Web-Est publishes one price: the Standard bundle at $154 a month, with an asterisk the page doesn't explain. Growth, Established and Premium are contact-for-pricing. There are no setup fees, agreements run a year at a time, and Web-Est says it does not auto-renew them.
How much does Mitchell Cloud Estimating cost?
Mitchell doesn't publish prices for Cloud Estimating, Cloud Repair or RepairCenter; the pages offer a demo. RepairCenter is sold as packages or individual modules, and some features need a specific module, so ask for a line-item quote.
Do body shop software subscriptions auto-renew?
Many do. Impactify and Revv ADAS renew for a period equal to the initial term, and Revv needs non-renewal notice at least 30 days before the end. Autoshop Solutions renews month to month if the order form is silent. Web-Est says its annual agreements don't auto-renew.
