Compare Jobber, LMN and Yardbook using recurring maintenance, weather exceptions and separate enhancement jobs. The key test is whether moving one visit preserves the future series and produces the right billing for each agreement. A custom build needs to reproduce those rules, not just display stops on a map.
A recurring lawn contract and this week’s visit are related but different records. Lawn care software should let a crew move or skip one visit without accidentally changing the whole agreement or billing for work that was not done.
What the software costs—and where your margin can improve.
Start with the bill and one costly workflow. The comparison is straightforward: recurring software costs you can actually remove, minus the hosting, AI, integrations and upkeep a replacement needs. Time saved is a separate gain, and only becomes margin when the business can use it.
A source-priced scenario, not a claim about your invoice. Check required modules, usage fees and your negotiated terms.
A focused tool · under your control
Pay for the parts this workflow needs.
One time: map the rules, build, test edge cases, move only the data needed and train the people who use it.
Each month: affordable hosting, coding-AI usage, any database or integrations, backups and maintenance. Price these for the actual application; a $0 or low hosting tier is not the total cost.
You control: the code repository, domain, data and service accounts. Someone on your side owns updates, access, recovery and support.
MarginVendor costs removed − the replacement’s full monthly operating cost.
Admin timeFirst target: One visit versus the series. Can a rain delay move only the affected visit?
Business valueDurable, documented margin can strengthen a business; buyers still assess risk and whether someone else can run the workflow.
The exact replacement cost depends on scope and usage. Bring your invoice and one frustrating task; we’ll map what can stay, what could be owned and the costs to verify.

Questions to ask and a concrete way to test the answer
What matters
Ask this
Then demonstrate this
One visit versus the series
Can a rain delay move only the affected visit?
Move Tuesday’s stop to Thursday. Verify next Tuesday stays unchanged unless staff explicitly choose a series change.
Skipped work and billing
Is a missed visit treated according to the customer’s actual agreement?
Compare a hypothetical per-visit customer with a flat-monthly customer. Skip a visit and inspect each draft invoice without assuming identical treatment.
Crew and route capacity
Can a route look short but still contain too much work?
Combine travel with service durations and crew availability. Add a long one-off task and check whether it fits the day.
Extra work
Can a separate hedge-trimming quote remain distinct from weekly mowing?
Approve an enhancement, schedule it once and track its time and charges without changing the recurring mowing price.

A rainy Tuesday without a broken recurring schedule
A synthetic evaluation scenario to run with a vendor or builder. These are proposed acceptance criteria, not results of a hands-on product test.
Create three Tuesday maintenance visits on recurring contracts. Give one customer per-visit billing and another a hypothetical flat monthly agreement.
Move only this week’s visits to Thursday and check the crew workload. The following week should remain on Tuesday.
Mark one stop skipped and one completed. Compare the draft billing with the two example agreements instead of treating every schedule change as a credit.
Add a separately approved hedge-trimming job for one property. Keep its scope, labor and charge distinct from the weekly maintenance visit.
Preserve the contract behind each visit
Request clients, properties, recurring agreements, visit schedules, open quotes and service history. Record the recurrence rule as well as the next date; importing a single appointment does not recreate a season. Reconcile active customers by property, agreed service, crew and billing method. Review skipped or postponed work so it is not imported as completed. Keep enhancement quotes and open balances separate from recurring work. Ask how photos, site instructions and historical crew time can be retained.
Where a first build could stop
A custom first phase could improve quote intake, property records or crew completion reporting. Replacing the operational system needs explicit recurring-visit rules, weather exceptions, route capacity and invoice handoffs. Keep specialist landscape estimating or accounting where it earns its cost, and compare support effort alongside the subscription.

Jobber: jobs and visits ↗ Documents the difference between an overall job and each visit, including moves and completion.
The route and estimating software is the base: LMN Starter is $297 a month for one office license and five crew licenses, GorillaDesk goes from $49 for one route to $149 for three, and SingleOps adds from $55 per extra office user. Contracts do the holding. Aspire defaults to a three-year term if the order is silent, FieldRoutes defaults to two years with all remaining payments due if you leave, and Arborgold requires an annual contract even on monthly billing.
What to keep
Keep your estimating and job-costing tool, payment processing and any aerial measurement service you quote from. Satellite takeoffs like Deep Lawn or SiteRecon are imagery you rent, not build.
What to verify
Ask providers to demonstrate this workflow using your edge cases. Check which plan includes each step, what costs extra and how your records can be exported.

How should lawn care software handle a rain delay?
A one-off weather move should preserve the intended recurring series unless staff explicitly change it. Review crew capacity, customer communication and billing separately. Moving a visit is not the same event as completing it or issuing a credit.
Can lawn care route software replace my whole business system?
Only if it also supports the records and rules you need for agreements, properties, quotes, completed work and billing. Route ordering solves one task. Test a skipped recurring visit and a separate enhancement job before treating routing as a complete replacement.
How much does LMN cost?
LMN Starter is $297 a month and includes one office/crew-lead license and five crew licenses; Professional is $648. There's a one-time onboarding fee with no published amount, and more licenses cost extra at an unpublished rate.
Does Jobber include a website for lawn care?
Yes. Jobber lists a professional website among its Core features, and Core is $49 a month on no-commitment billing. The Marketing Suite is a separate $99 a month, and the low headline prices are introductory before they revert.
Can I cancel Service Autopilot early?
Yes, but the early termination fee is the monthly fee times the months left in the term. Renewal is automatic unless you give written notice before the period ends, and Service Autopilot's schedule lets Xplor raise fees 7% a year.
